Happy birthday, Winds of Fury! It’s been a year since we started our game up. If you’re curious, it all started with a Wanted ad on RPGD for a Weyrleader and now look where we are. Unbelievable and incredible. I’m so pleased, happy and creatively content to have had this time and plenty of opportunities to play with you all and hope this will continue for many more years to come. Here’s to another year of awesome DRoP roleplaying!
This time the newsletter is a bit longer so please be patient with me as I lay down the news of both OOC and IC happenings. It’ll be fun, I promise.
OOC News:
First of all, as tradition requires, our newcomers! Please welcome the lovely people who joined us in May: Silentarrow, ok, Zen, Selene, Kay, armiece and Dee! Some of you have created your characters already, others we look forward to hearing from about their brilliant ideas. You all know you can go to the chat and tell us anything, be it concerns or comments or questions or plans. Hopefully you’ll make WoF your home as we have and we can celebrate another year passing next May.
Right then. The anniversary festivities contain a few fun events and a contest! The design-a-badge contest was to give our starting out Enkala Hold a coat of arms to be known all over Pern along with its peat. We’ve seen some pretty awesome designs already and SR has kept the contest open for a while longer for a bigger variety. I must say I have a favourite already but it’s SR’s baby and she’s not letting me near it. Psh! You can check out the contest and entries here: http://dancingshadows.net/Windfury/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1202
Now the slightly IC but mostly OOC Mister/Miss Pern 1758 pageant that has been running ever since the anniversary. Both have supplied so much fun and giggles as well as some insight to the minds of the candidates to the title most of everyone want to have, right? Who wouldn’t want to be the manliest guy on Pern or the prettiest princess on the planet? *grins and dodges a rock thrown by Setsuna* Whoa there, little miss.
Anyway, the contest has had two rounds completed already. It started with swimsuit round where a lot of desireable and not so pleasant flesh was flashed and from the nine guys and nine girls nominated, six went on to the next phase which was the talent round. Unfortunately K’rel, E’mris and Fin were voted out in that one. I know, I was shocked, too. And no, Fin, there was no cheating. The honourable judge, the Bitran Donald Tramp was ever so neutral to your questionable talent. From the ladies, Maere, Seren and Shanoa were eliminated. The third rounds – questions and formal wear – is still on-going so I can only announce the winner in the next newsletter. Good luck T’khor, G’tien and M’rman and Verinika, Setsuna and Rayna. Two of these will be crowned soon enough! The Mister Pern 1758 topic is here: http://dancingshadows.net/Windfury/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1200 and Miss Pern 1758 is here: http://dancingshadows.net/Windfury/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1199 I very much recommend going through all the pages for a few indignant snorts and chuckles as well as errr.... pretty pictures. Yes. Enjoy!
As you may have noticed, we have new pretty IC locations banners for each RP area, made by our favourite SR. Much love and praises to her! Also noticeable is the emergence of the HOLD forums!
Yes, that’s right. On our anniversary, the 19th of June, Enkala Hold was officially opened for RP and already established Holders were able to move in. Several other Holder characters were created so the place got started with a roar! There is a plot going on and more to come for the Holders so here’s to the founding of the peat harvesting Hold near the horrible Weyr everyone hates.
I’m sure I’m missing something hugely important in this section but oh well! More information can be found on the forum anyway.
IC News.
The following characters were created in May: Adreasi, Jadrian, Drune, C’amryn, Ever, Jillarian, Vainnan, Doreen, Al’tair, Ilazie, L’ota, A’del, Faun, Silander. That’s QUITE the hoard! And they’ve all been seen in Enkala Weyr or Hold, scurrying around and all. Good stuff!
The biggest and baddest news for was for the dragonriders. In one magnificent dramatic evening and flight, T’khor was stripped of his Weyrleader rank when the Senior Queen Talmeth err... well, lets just say she and Mennoth ended up tangled and made hopefully lots of baby dragons. And as a result, G’tien, the ever charming bronzerider formerly from Ista Weyr now leads Enkala. None but the former Istans(minus the Weyrwoman) are pleased with this development but in the interest of peace and being prepared for Threadfall that will be starting come summer, life continues on.
It was a busy winter for the boys and girls of Enkala Weyr – quite a lot of new children will be born within the next months, congratulations to the happy parents and good on you, Enkala, for having more Weyrbred brats!
The riders of the Black Wing should be aware that their Wingleader is now G’tien while T’khor has been demoted back into wingrider. We hope the transition goes smoothly and no noses will be busted during this difficult time. Let us all try to get along, yes?
After his devastating loss at the Gold flight, Gavanth made it up(as much as that is possible) with going after and winning Enyth’s flight, both the green and her rider were happy as clams! Weyrwoman did not comment and why should she? They’re out of her.. jurisdiction now.
The Weyrguard also has asked me to relay a message to all dragonriders and Weyrfolk concerning the accident with the blue dragon whose wing was severely injured after an unknown projectile wooshed through it at high velocity. The investigation is still underway and the witnesses are being questioned but aside from the fact that there was a big bang right before this happened, nothing is known. Take care when treading out in the open. Perhaps the Thread has come early?
The Searchriders are being sent out again and the Weyrwoman has requested that any who wish to help out M’rman and K’rel in this tough assignment, should report to her or the Weyrleader for assessment.
The last preparations before Pass begins are underway. Anyone with the knowledge of healing or dragonhealing are to let their Wingleader or the Headwoman know immediately for it may yet become useful when Thread starts falling.
More news next time. This month has been quite eventful, lets make the next one just as exciting!
