January Summary 2011

Greetings and salutations!

Happy New Year/Turn! In case you’re wondering what in the world I am talking about, the Newsletter is for the Month of January and First Month of 1758 IC-wise. So there we go, a little late as it is, we still wish you the best experience and fun and happiness in the coming Year/Turn. Gifts for the Weyrfolk can be found on the corner table of the Gathering Hall, don’t eat/drink/spend it all at once.

OOC News:

The following members are new from January 2011: Nyrian, Swift and WitchesRayvyn.
Welcome to you all and I hope you’ll have fun on Winds of Fury. As always, plots, open scenes, questions both IC and OOC can be directed at myself or SRness or any member currently online so don’t be shy and do check in and RP with us.

As you may have noticed, it’s been a little quiet on the board. I’d like to say it was because we were still recovering from SR’s birthday bash and turn of the year but obviously much more than that kept us busy. However, WoF will press on and new scenes and plots are incoming so stay tuned.

As a huuuuuuuuugely belated 3000th post present I gave everyone another character slot. In light of the planned (possible) opening of Enkala Hold. Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to save it for that but it is a free tip for a character idea.

I’d like to draw your attention to the Suggestion Box where you can leave your suggestions and comments on how to improve our little forum. Please don’t be shy and we in turn, promise to take every suggestion seriously. Thank you in advance!

It’s time to count our chicks. That means we’re having an activity check. Please goto http://dancingshadows.net/Windfury/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=904 and follow the simple instructions. Please note that everyone who does not reply will automatically be considered inactive. Don’t let it come to that :(

A bit of a heads up: The Valentine’s Day special is about to be revealed so everyone who signed their character’s up, check it out. It is also still possible to register a character to the fun. Here’s the information thread: http://dancingshadows.net/Windfury/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=860

IC News:

Winters are a time of contemplation and cuddling up with your weyrmate or someone who wishes to be your weyrmate. So while Enkalans were busy with that, not much action as such happened. Scenes were of a more comfortable and conversational kind instead of the usual activity. Lets see what the drudges say.

“I sure hope the Weyrleaders aren’t going to let this poisoning thing
slide…”
“Oh! I know who it was. It’s that shifty-looking weyrguard that always
looks like there’s a pimple on his behind.”
“You fool, he just arrived in the 12th Month!”
“Err… Right. Then T’khor better get to the bottom of this.”

---

“I heard the Weyrwoman has her weyrmate tied to the bed so he would heal
completely from the sickness.”
“Maybe it isn’t just to heal…?”
“You dirty bugger!”
“What? All I’m saying is that Seren’s a pretty lady and she makes a lot of
pie these days…”

---

“… but he’s already thirty, he probably has more brats running about the
Weyr...”
“What are you two talking about again?”
“Oh, you know. That Wingleader J’cob. His stand in, Serafina is pregnant
and Marlena said it’s his.”
“Really? I thought he was hot for our Verinika?”
“Well, I heard there’s that greenrider, G’nys…”
“My, what a busy man he is.”

---

“I swear, this is the fifth time in three months that I see the Master
Miner at Enkala. What are they planning?”
“Maere said there might be a Mine or even a Hold being planned nearby and
the Master Miner is surveying the resources.”
“She didn’t exactly say that. She said it’s possible there is some sort of
bog… stuff in the marshes.”
“Real smooth, buddy…”

This was but a few snippets from the corridors of the Weyr. It’s by far not all there is but first, this must happen ICly. If your character is stuck and can’t find a place to play in, there is an Open scenes topic to help you with it. The topic can be found here: http://dancingshadows.net/Windfury/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=879 If you have made an open scene that isn’t posted there, please PM Nyaare or SRness with the link to it. And of course, these scenes listed there are all free to join if your character can find a reason to be in the specified location and you have a desire to post there. Hopefully it’ll help!

Although no characters were added to the roster this January, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you of the forsaken characters left in the registration. Maybe we can work out some way to make them work so that you can finish them up and join in the RP? Both admins and the enthusiast plotters on the site are more than happy to help with this. These are the characters waiting for their writers to pretty them up: Karia, Tula, N’rian.

Last but not least, it’s time for our column! This time we have the “Ask Your Harper” column that should help people with relationship challenges ahead. Catch the glimpse of it on the door of the Gathering Hall quickly before the Weyrwoman tears it down again!

„Dear Aunt Finnabelle,

I met a boy recently and he's really charming and understanding. He knew
exactly how I felt about my past love (Blue Healer). It seems too good to
be true. Is he genuine or just a charmer?

~ Insecure Greenie

Dear Insecure Greenie,

You should know one thing about men: They are always, always genuine when
it comes to a girl's feelings. The problems occur when the girl starts to
assume too much from a relationship. That's not to say they don't want you
to jump in with them, because their feelings run deep and true and your
insecurities could seriously reject him and damage your chances...

Good luck with your boy!

~ Aunty Finnabelle„

Ohhh dear. Well that’s it for this time. It’s a little late but it’s a
whole lot of fun to read(I hope!). Please check into Winds of Fury forum
for more information, RP and random gutter talk in the chatbox.
